Tossing your tomatoes on the grill is a simply delicious way to savor this summer favorite! Start with a firmer variety of tomato that can stand up to a little heat without falling apart and make your slices thick or even just halve medium-size tomatoes. The preparation is simple, the grill time is quick, and the flavor is incredible – a win-win-win on the grill. Once prepared, these grilled tomatoes are fantastic in so many ways. Add fresh chopped green onions to make a simple side dish, add them to a full grilled veggie platter for a pop of color, toss with pasta and basil for a rustic sauce or serve right on top of chicken or fish with an extra sprinkle of cracked black pepper. Enjoy!

  • 4 tomatoes
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Herbs, to taste


  1. Preheat grill to 350.
  2. Slice tomatoes into very thick slices or halve them, brushing or drizzling both sides with oil.
  3. Grill one side 4-5 minutes; gently flip with a grill-safe spatula; grill other side 4-5 minutes.
  4. Use spatula to gently remove from grill to platter; season with fresh salt and pepper or other herbs if desired.
