What is the purpose of the tank monitor?
Your tank monitor will allow you to monitor the amount of propane in your tank from anywhere you can access your MyAmeriGas account. This allows you to have a better idea of your fuel consumption and prevents you from unexpectedly running out of gas. The monitor automatically notifies us to schedule a delivery when your tank reaches the reorder point.
What benefits are there to having this monitor on my propane tank?
The tank monitor gives you peace of mind knowing you have the ability to access your propane tank fuel level to avoid running out. It may also reduce the amount of deliveries, and allows you to track your consumption rate.
Will this monitor require extra maintenance from me?
No, AmeriGas has partnered with Otodata, a leading tank monitor manufacturer, to perform any necessary maintenance when needed.
Does the monitor need to connect to my location’s internet network?
No, the monitor communicates by cellular network technology. In some areas, a satellite network technology may be utilized to ensure connectivity.
How long does the installation take?
The installation of your tank monitor will take place in one day with the actual process taking less than 15 minutes. As long as we have access to your tank, you do not need to be present for the installation of the monitor on your tank.
What if my tank is within a locked, secure area of my yard?
At the time of installation, Otodata’s technicians will knock at your dock, introduce themselves, and provide the details of the installation/service appointment. If you have any special access instructions, please provide them that information.
Where do you install the tank monitor?
The tank monitor is an attachment to the top of your existing tank. If your tank is below ground and the lid or dome is metal, the monitor may be installed on top of the top or lid. When the dome or lid is plastic, the monitor may be installed out of sight below the dome or lid.
How do I activate my monitor?
Your monitor does not require activation on your part. Once our tank monitor partner, Otodata, has their technician install the tank monitor, you will be able to view your historical and current tank level graph in your MyAmeriGas account. If you do not currently have a MyAmeriGas account, you can register at MyAmeriGas.com/Register.
How do I access the data from my tank monitor?
From your computer, tablet, or mobile device, login to MyAmeriGas. Your tank monitor information is displayed on the homepage of your MyAmeriGas account.
Did I see my tank level data on MyAmeriGas before I received a remote tank monitor?
Yes, but it's now better! The tank fill level displayed was previously estimated. With your new remote tank monitor installed, you will now see an actual reading sent directly from your tank monitor.
Does the tank monitor require regular inspection or safety checks?

Our partner, Otodata, has a dedicated team to identify any communication issues with our monitor. I already have my propane delivered by automatic delivery, how will a tank monitor change that?
We will more accurately know when you need gas and we will schedule your delivery accordingly. This means you are less likely to run out of fuel and you could experience fewer deliveries.
If I see that my tank is getting low, should I call and schedule a delivery?
