Did you know that 1 in 6 Americans face hunger each day? This scary statistic is unfortunately the reality for many Americans. That’s why, at AmeriGas, we try our best to continually support our local communities throughout the nation.
Each year, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, AmeriGas donates meals to local food banks and shelters throughout the nation. Nationwide, our offices pride themselves on their commitment to support their local community.
Currently, our Phoenix office is collecting food and toiletries for the St. Mary’s Food Bank—an organization that is near to their hearts. The St. Mary’s Food Bank distributes the donations to approximately 430 sites, which include: domestic violence shelters, schools, churches, children’s shelters and senior centers. This office has set a goal for themselves to raise 150lbs of food, which would provide 150 meals to local shelters and families in need.
But the local offices aren’t the only folks giving back to the community—here at our King of Prussia headquarters, we’re also making an effort to support our local food banks! Twice a year, our corporate office collects food donations for Philabundance, a non-profit food bank serving the Philadelphia area. Philabundance is able to distribute 30 million pounds of food annually to those in need through a variety of local shelters, food pantries, and after-school feeding programs.
Throughout the country, our AmeriGas offices are working to make the community a better place. From collecting donations for food drives to donating coats for those in need to supporting local schools and sports teams, our offices are committed supporting the communities we service.
