AmeriGas supports LIHEAP, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
, for customers who may be having problems affording their winter heating bills. LIHEAP provides grants on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible families to help with home energy costs. Although it is a federal program, each state administers LIHEAP separately and you should apply directly to your state if you think you are eligible. Eligibility is determined by each communities’ standards, but is generally available if someone in your home is elderly, disabled or there is a young child under 6 years old. These persons are especially at risk for life-threatening illness or death if their home is too cold in the winter.
