At AmeriGas, safety is at the forefront of all we do.
From Delivery Drivers, to Service Technicians, and Customer Care Specialists, our AmeriGas employees all share the same core value: keeping you safe. At our facilities, while on the road, and as we service homes and businesses across the country, we keep the safety of our customers and communities at the center. AmeriGas invests in your wellbeing - with training, technology, and genuine care.
Every Visit Includes a Safety Inspection
When an AmeriGas driver or technician arrives at your property, they don't just deliver — they inspect. Our Pre-Fill Inspection is a 10-point code check performed at every visit, ensuring your installation meets National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 58 standards, the nationally recognized safety code governing propane systems from the tank to your home's entry point.
What we look at every time, at no extra cost to you:
Safety is an Employee Priority from Day 1
We believe that the best safety tool in the propane industry is training. That's why every new AmeriGas field employee — Driver or Technician — goes through a comprehensive 6-week onboarding program before they ever serve a customer on their own.
We Look Out For Your Property
Our proprietary SafetyNet program is a hazard-awareness communication system used by AmeriGas drivers to share critical, property-specific information with one another — so visits to your home are informed and respectful of your unique situation.
SafetyNet helps our team know:
-
Whether animals are present on the property
-
Which driveway or access point to use to protect your landscaping and structures
-
Bridge weight-bearing safety for rural or private roads
-
Seasonal road and weather conditions affecting your driveway
This means the person delivering your propane isn't starting from scratch — they arrive prepared, informed, and ready to treat your home with the care it deserves.
We Go Beyond the Minimum - Because Your Safety Demands It
Industry regulations (NFPA 58 and NFPA 54) require that a leak check be performed any time there is an interruption of service at your propane tank. We respect the regulations and treat them as a minimum standard. We take your safety seriously and are committed to doing what we can to be proactively protective of our customers and communities.
AmeriGas has defined nine specific situations that trigger a mandatory leak check of your system. Why? Because a small undetected leak isn't just an inconvenience — it can be a serious safety risk. We'd rather be thorough than take chances with your family's wellbeing.
A note on out-of-gas situations: When your tank runs empty, AmeriGas uses an accurate, measurable process to verify your system is safe before resuming service — not guesswork. This is how it should be done.
We Put Safety First
Propane is a safe, efficient energy source — and we work hard to keep it that way. There are moments when our technicians may need to pause service to complete a safety step before progressing with additional work. We never take shortcuts, because the short-term inconvenience of a few extra minutes is never worth a long-term risk to you, your family, or your neighbors.
Safety for our customers. Safety for our employees. Safety for the community. That's the AmeriGas standard.
