Troubleshooting Your Propane Cylinder
With today’s propane cylinder safety valves, propane will no longer flow out
of a cylinder simply by opening the hand wheel. Remember these tips:
- Step 1: Make sure the cylinder service valve
hand wheel is turned OFF (to the right) completely before hooking up to your
grill or other appliance.
- Step 2: Check that your Quick Connect
Coupler (the fitting that couples to the cylinder service valve) is hand-tight
on the cylinder valve before opening the valve hand wheel.
- Step 3: If your grill’s regulator has left-handed
threads, it should be tightened with a wrench (be sure not to over-tighten).
- Step 4: If you do not have gas flowing to your
grill, turn off your grill AND the cylinder service valve hand wheel, unhook Quick
Connect Coupler from the cylinder valve and repeat Steps 1 and 2.
- Note: Be sure to follow any manufacturers’
instructions for the appliance and follow all precautions.
