In select countries in the European market later this year, drivers will have the option to purchase the new Kia Picanto Bi-Fuel. The bi-fuel car can operate for up to 373 miles in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) mode. When the LPG supply runs low, it will automatically switch to gasoline.
What are the benefits of using propane autogas, or LPG?
- Increases engine life
- Qualifies for alternative fuel tax credit of 50 cents per gallon
- Reduces fleet maintenance costs
- Reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 19%, creates 20% less nitrogen oxide and up to 60% less carbon monoxide
- Propane fleets operate at 5-30 percent less than gasoline fleets
- Lower fuel costs
There is also a great deal of assistance available for Autogas fleet conversions:
- PERC incentive programs available
- A variety of government programs are available for special tax credits, grants and funding programs
- State, county and city agencies with special propane incentives for qualifying fleets
