For the propane industry, this weekend (April 16-18) is a special event, the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo. According to the NPGA, it “is the largest propane-related tradeshow in the world with over 200 exhibitors and more than 2,500 participants!” The 3-day event includes a variety of educational and training courses covering topics from safety to new technology and an exhibition with everything from tanks, valves, and pipes to bobtails and propane autogas vehicles. Here are some of the highlights (that we like):
- AmeriGas‘s Paula Wilson will be part of a panel discussion on Technology Training on Saturday afternoon (April 16) from 2-3:15 pm. The panel will be talking about the latest in propane R&D, including the economic and environmental benefits of propane-powered generators, commercial mowers, vehicles and fleets, and tankless water heaters.
- TransTech Energy‘s David Kennedy, director of their Autogas Alternative Fuel Division (and guest blogger for AmeriGas, read his post: Warranties and Aftermarket Alternative Fuel Systems) is bringing some of his immense knowledge of autogas vehicle conversions to the panel discussion on New Opportunities in Propane Autogas, also in Saturday from 12:30-1:45 pm. In the exhibit hall, David will also be unveiling, for the first time, one of the most drop-dead gorgeous propane autogas vars ever created – make sure to check it out!
- The Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) will be in the Innovation Pavilion of the Exhibit Hall showing off the Generac propane-fueled EcoGen standby generator. According to PERC, “The EcoGen 6-kilowatt genset provides quieter, cleaner, more fuel-efficient power generation than traditional alternatives with enhanced ease of use and reduced maintenance costs. Developed through a partnership with PERC, the EcoGen is the first automatic standby generator to be warranted for off-grid use when used in an alternative energy system.“
