2012: Propane Centennial – Don’t we look good for our age!

Wow, don’t we look good for our age!! 2012 is an exciting year for the propane industry. It marks the 100th anniversary of the first use of this exceptional fuel, and celebrates its role in improving the lives and businesses of millions of people all over the world.

The beginning: on May 17, 1912, liquefied petroleum gas, known as propane, began lighting lamps and heating meals for the humble owner of a farmhouse in Waterford, Pennsylvania.   Out of this single event was born a vibrant energy industry which has increased the standards of living for many people and businesses worldwide.

Propane can be used every day in virtually all aspects of modern life….

You name it…propane is there!   I’ve been in the propane industry for almost 30 years.  I am proud of our history, and the role AmeriGas has played in its success.  I am proud of all the industry employees, and the entire family of propane companies that offer reliable solutions to our country’s energy needs.

Happy birthday propane….here’s to the next 100 years and the future we continue to build together!!  Learn more about our celebration at www.propane100.org.
