Summary

Reporting to Westlake Manager, Logistics, the Seasonal Dispatcher will optimize the distribution of propane and the scheduling and of service related activities. Working with the Drivers, Routers and the Team Leader, the Dispatcher will make last minute (unscheduled) resource adjustments in Drivers and trucks, same day real time dynamic dispatching and proactively track available resources to utilize excess delivery capacity. The Seasonal Dispatcher will communicate processes that maintain high customer service levels and improve the Market’s cost competitiveness by maximizing the utilization of assets and human resources.

Responsibilities
  • On a daily basis, review with the Router of the assigned Service Area the next day’s scheduled activity and available resources.  Identify any possible opportunities for increased service and or capacity utilization.

 

  • On a daily basis, summarize changes made to scheduled routes and discuss issues and opportunities with Service Area Router and Manager, Logistics.

 

  • Resolve immediate any emergency delivery queue issues.

 

  •  Changes to delivery schedules are to be created in a manner that will allow the driver to return to the plant with sufficient time remaining for him/her to load his truck for the following day.

 

  • In those last minute and emergency requiring the Driver to return to the plant to reload during the course of the day, individual schedules will be developed that optimize delivery operations. Route(s) furthest away from the plant will be run first with subsequent route(s) being closer to the plant.

 

·        Schedule and dispatch any emergency deliveries and/or service work that may be required during the course of the day.  

 

·        Monitor the Dispatch Board and immediately inform the SSM of any Driver(s) who have not left the plant within 30 minutes of their assigned starting time. 

 

·        Throughout the day, monitor the appropriate web pages to ensure that all undelivered orders were completely and properly reported via QualCom immediately after the Driver determined that the delivery could not be made.  Immediately contact any Driver not in compliance with the prescribed reporting method and have him respond accordingly.  Notify the SSM in the case of repeat offenders.  

 

·         Monitor GPS messaging and respond to Drivers/Techs as required.

 

·         Monitor the appropriate Macros to see that OOG procedures are being followed in accordance with AmeriGas safety policies. Notify the SSM and the Westlake Human Resources Manager of all non-compliant occurrences.

 

·        On a daily basis, prepare a Delivery Scorecard including KSMs (Key Success Measures) consisting of gallons per hour, gallons per mile, low fuel delivery %, stops per day, stops per hour and, miles per stop. Variances from these goals will be explained and recommendations for improvement provided to the Team Leader and Manager, Logistics.   This information will also be summarized on a weekly basis. ·        Through communication with the Router, remain current in the “on-call” schedule.

 

·        In accordance with AmeriGas policies and procedures, arrange for emergency vehicle service/repairs that become necessary during normal business hours.  Notify the SSM,  Manager, Logistics and the Team Leader of the details and action taken.

 

·        Immediately upon notification of an accident or incident notify the SSM, and the Manager, Logistics, Safety Manager and Manager of Human Resources in Westlake.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years relative experience (Dispatch)
  • Excellent communication and computer skills

The hours are staggered between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., and would most likely include Saturdays (part and full days).  This is a full time seasonal position.
